critic/winery review: A vibrant Chardonnay from vineyards in cooler climates
of California. Chardonnay is well known for its characteristic fresh apple
fruit aromas and rounded, rich flavors. Weather during the 2011 harvest
provided ideal growing conditions for lush, yet perfectly balanced fruit.
My review: It
smells like spoiled milk, specifically like when you put lemon juice into milk
in order to make butter milk. Very strange thing for a wine to emulate. The
taste reflects the smell pretty exactly. Milky start with a sour fruit end. I
like the creamy type of chardonnay, but this wasn’t well done. The butter and
milk aspects are too emphasized instead of letting them assist in making the
wine better they've almost taken over.
CONCLUSION: Wouldn’t
drink again.
Not tasted with food
